Roles and responsibilities in data center cybersecurity governance

In Tutorial 3, Effective data center governance for cybersecurity, Uptime Intelligence looked at how organizations need a cyber governance structure that relates their cybersecurity program to the objectives of the whole organization. This master plan needs to be informed by an understanding of the corporate risk management, along with specific assets and vulnerabilities.

A data center cyber governance structure relates data center cybersecurity to the governance of the organization as a whole and assigns responsibility for policies and procedures. It needs to deliver a detailed ledger of “roles and goals” — a list of required tasks and objectives that identifies the individuals who are accountable for a process and those that are responsible for performing specific tasks. It can also say how often a task should be performed, how to document successful completion, and how to handle any exceptions.
