Network advisory: Developing operational procedures

In the third installment of Uptime’s hugely popular Tutorial Roundtable series, Ron Davis – Uptime Vice President of Digital Infrastructure Operations – led a session that dug into the process of developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) – frameworks designed to ensure that data center operations were consistent, comprehensive, and transparent enough to support analysis and continuous improvement.

The tutorial walked through key initial objectives – setting policy, defining templates, tying into CMMS – and then delved into how organizations established an improvement loop that included training and execution, revisions, and revision controls. Members were encouraged to share experiences, ask questions, and add insights at all points in the discussion.
