Nature laws to play key role in planning and building facilities
Data centers are increasingly required to report on and reduce their environmental impact. These measures generally focus on climate change and aim to reduce carbon emissions, water usage, resource consumption and waste. They are driven by the Paris Agreement, which came into force in November 2016 in response to the challenges associated with climate change and its threat to human existence.
However, humankind’s impact on the natural world goes beyond climate change and resource depletion, it also includes the loss of biodiversity, pollution of seas and rivers, and destruction of habitats, such as wetlands and forests.
