Giant data centers: power proposed in 1H 2026 tracks 2025 level

7 min read

Data from Uptime Intelligence's giant data center analysis indicates that, in the first half of 2026, power capacities for proposed new data centers and campuses over 100 MW continue record expansion.

North America represents 64% of all planned power identified in 1H 2026 proposals, compared with 80% in 2025. Europe, the Middle East and Africa increased its share of proposed power to 21%, up from 14% in 2025 following more gigawatt campus announcements. The largest proposals still feature fully off-grid power generation, while grid plus on-site power and renewable energy are increasing overall.
