Tracking of IT equipment varies widely and often falls short

The Uptime Institute IT and Power Efficiency Survey 2023 asked data center operators about their organizations’ strategies for managing IT equipment inventory data. Results show that the practices for gathering this data vary in accuracy and completeness. Consequently, many operators will struggle to comply with any regulations that require companies to report their IT energy and carbon use.
The Uptime Institute IT and Power Efficiency Survey 2023, conducted online in July 2023, had more than 500 end-user respondents. This report highlights some of the findings.
