RECAP | Uptime Institute Membership presents: Sustainability Discussion Forum
Introduction:
Sustainability in its many forms is now one of the main concerns for World Leaders and Scientists the world over. From the 2050 target for Climate Neutrality set by the European Union, to President Biden's target of 50% reduction in greenhouse gas pollution by 2030, it is clear that to achieve these targets all industries are going have to make improvements. The data center industry is no different with a number of areas that we can all look at to improve Sustainability, including Energy Efficiency, the Circular Economy, and Water re-use, but where to begin and what are the best paths to ensure data center resiliency is not compromised appear to be key questions for many in the industry.
Following on from the highly interactive Sustainability discussion at the recent Membership Briefings in June 2021, the Sustainability Discussion Forum was conducted on 26 August 2021. This forum provided members the opportunity to ask the Uptime Institute Sustainability Intelligence team any questions they may have on any sustainability topic. Answering questions were Andy Lawrence, Executive Director for Uptime Institute Intelligence, and Jay Dietrich, Research Director, Sustainability, for Uptime Institute.
The presentation reviewed by Andy and Jay is attached, along with the audio/video of the session. The presentation has material that was not covered in the session because of time, so please make sure to check it out.
