Data center supply chains are still disrupted, more than three years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Operators and vendors face major delays in the supply of equipment, and are increasingly dissatisfied with their suppliers. However, operators are becoming more creative and adjusting their growth strategies to expand capacities despite the delays. The Uptime Institute Data Center Supply Chain Survey 2022 investigates how operators and vendors are navigating these challenges and offers insight into how the industry may react to similar disruptions in the future.
The survey was conducted online in October and November 2022 and analyzed in January 2023. It had 802 respondents and collected data from three main groups: data center owners / operators (n=235); colocation providers (n=134); and vendors / product providers / consultants (n=433).
