It has long been said that enterprises in the US have a different attitude to their use of technology than their counterparts elsewhere. True or not, a recurring narrative is that the US is technologically more bold — more ambitious, more free spending, and, possibly, more optimistic than is realistic.
The recent Uptime Institute survey of IT and data center managers did not set out to resolve this point, but there were strong hints that, in a few key areas, the US retains a little of that more gung-ho approach.
