Considerations of raised supply air temperatures

Increased supply air temperature is gaining interest from data center service providers, as well as regulators in some countries. Understanding the potential for overall energy reductions requires a complex, multivariable analysis that involves IT equipment (such as fan control and CPU utilization), central and IT space cooling system specifics (such as control parameters and utilization), and site climate data. Overall energy savings will not be possible in all cases.

Arguably, the primary resiliency concern is that higher temperatures eliminate the protection provided by lower temperatures, placing greater demands on operations staff and reducing the margin for error.
