Uptime Institute provided three documents to the EU Commission and their consultants, Ernest and Young and Borderstep, in response to two surveys. The surveys are intended to gather data to facilitate the development of a data center labeling/rating system.
Uptime Institute response to survey 1B: Provided a summary of Uptime Insitute’s global member data center infrastructure size, resource use, and operational metrics.
Uptime Institute response to Survey 2: Provided Uptime Institute point of view on the framework for a rating/labeling system, the best metrics to use, a recommendation to rate data centers on the year to year improvement of the key metrics, and the need to collect two to three years of quality data in the EU database on data centers before setting performance thresholds.
Uptime Institute observations on the Information and KPI reporting process: A list of specific concerns and recommended fixes to problems with the EED information and KPI reporting process and the EU formatting of the EU Data Base on Data Centres.
