Developing data center cybersecurity policies and procedures

Data center cybersecurity depends on the actions of the staff involved in running the facility. These actions can only be guaranteed if the organization applies logical and consistent policies and procedures. In an enterprise, cybersecurity policies are generally handed down by the chief information security officer (CISO), who aligns the data center’s cyber defenses with the approach used to secure the entire organization. Meanwhile, accountable data center executives need to ensure that the requirements of their facilities are reflected in corporate security policies.

An optimal approach to these procedures involves providing the staff, training and discipline needed to ensure consistent execution of these policies. Defining the best approaches and applications of policies and procedures can be a painstaking task, while executing them effectively also requires discipline and the ability to adjust approaches accordingly. By navigating these requirements, data center leaders provide essential support to help maintain consistent data center service delivery.
